I am trying to understand how 6 Sigma and Lean Principles are different. I see a stronger focus on "speaking with data", but outside of that, no significant difference seen.
How are 6 Sigma and Lean principles dis-similar from each other?

We view Six Sigma as having a broader reach than Lean Manufacturing in fact we believe the principles of Lean Manufacturing belong in Six Sigma so you should not find them in conflict at all. Six Sigma by our definition is the structured application of tools and techniques to achieve sustained strategic objectives. Six Sigma has application to all areas of the organization. I have not seen the emphasis on statistical analysis of data in Lean Manufacturing that is appropriate for Six Sigma. Another difference is Six Sigma is a Senior Management driven effort where most Lean Manufacturing efforts I have seen are Manufacturing driven.
