Hard work and activity are the only things that are rewarded in many organizations. Developing strategies and establishing process that address small problems before they become out of control is sometimes not appreciated.

A major change needs to occur if your organization rewards for the behavior of “fire fighting” the urgent unplanned events. Elimination and prevention of defects before they can occur is one of the goals of Six Sigma.

What is expected is a change from “reactive frenzy” to a “proactive anticipation and prevention of defects and problems”.
